The Kanawha Salines Foundation (KSF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. KSF was founded to preserve and promote the rich history and impact of salt and salt making on the development of the Kanawha Valley.

KSF operates the Dickinson Family Farm Museum, with exhibits and artifacts tracing the history of salt manufacturing in the Kanawha Valley by following the efforts of the J.Q. Dickinson Family and others in developing a world-renowned salt industry.

KSF also works in conjunction with the J.Q Dickinson Salt Works, which restarted the salt-making industry in Malden in for the first time since 1945.

The history of salt making in the Kanawha Valley is the history of the development of the valley. It is the mission of the KSF to preserve that history, and to teach others how important salt was, and continues to be, to the past and future of the region.

The Kanawha Salines Foundation has been made possible in part by a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council.
